LGT = Lost Ghost Town?

Why is this site becoming a virtual ghost town? Postings are few and far between; polls reveal that 8 voters can equal 100% of a total vote.
Has the site become extremely exclusive or do all potential contributors remain elusive?
Technology is our slave, not master, and increasingly we only utilise those aspects of technology that we find useful or interesting.
Take the popularity of YOU TUBE and how many functions on a mobile phone which remain a mystery........
Do we let this site wither and die or is there a case for some sort of resurrection?
Or do the 8 contributors retain their exclusivity?

Apathetic Tumbleweed

The time between postings and comments stretch out to days and hours and then evaporate into the ether.
What has to be done to rejuvinate this site?
What has to be done to breathe life into the possible community that could be contributing to discussions, sharing ideas and thoughts before it all turns to beta-max?

What do you think?

Hi Jef

We've been talking about your questions here at LGT. We agree that it's time for some re-development and re-juvenation and have got people in place to get some action!
But what do you think? What would attract more ex-network members and other teachers into using the site to share and discuss? Is it that people simply don't have time/it's not a priority, or do we need content and discussions which are more attractive to more educators?

Response

Hey Liz,
Yes is the answer.

The site

It's a pity this site can't be more like the one on the LGT course we did - with, among other things, photos of the contributors (which helps you to feel you're contacting a person, not just a name). I sent some stuff to Nicole Brown's e-mail and got no reply. Why was that?

Ditto

Hi,
I remember you from the EPP network and I too have e-mailed Nicole re a proposed visit but......nada.
However, I do enjoy some of the discussions posted on here and links shared.
They are well worth pursuing.

Network websites vs LGTnet

Hi David and Jef!

It's interesting to read David's comments about wanting LGTnet to be more like the network websites. I guess in some ways we wanted LGTnet to be a bit different (more 'grown up'?), so didn't go for the photos option. It's not something people have expressed an opinion about until now! Also, we just don't have the resources to treat LGTnet in the same way as the network websites e.g. with a dedicated network leader, ready and waiting to respond to comments, chivvy people along etc.
And am sure Nicole hasn't been neglecting you intentionally - remember she's not a full-time LGT employee, so most of the time she has is dedicated to her current network members!
