Teachers' TV has been building up their menu of programmes for early years educators. 'Early Years workshop – listening and questioning', and the accompanying discussion programme, examine how children explore, question and learn. The emphasis on questioning and independent learning is particularly appropriate for gifted and talented children.

CBeebies – Jackanory Junior

I was in a school on World Book Day – all the pupils and staff were allowed to come to school dressed up as their favourite character from a book – I had a surreal meeting with Mary Poppins, the Easter Bunny and Pocahontas...anyway, that's another story!

BUT, a group of able students in reception and Y1 were using a nice resource on the CBeebies Jackanory Junior website (see link below).

Pupils can write their own story, illustrate it, print it off and make their own book. They loved it.
